Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned, in explaining the rights of a Muslim over his brother, the hadith of al-Bara' ibn 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Prophet gave us seven commands and seven prohibitions.
Mishkat al-Masabih 1526
. Most of what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded in this hadith has already been discussed, so there is no need to repeat it. The addition in this hadith to what came before is his statement:
Support the oppressed
: "and support the oppressed." This means repelling the injustice from him, whether the injustice is in his wealth, his honor, or his person. It is obligatory for the Muslim to support his Muslim brother. Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Support your brother, whether he is an oppressor or an oppressed. They said: O Messenger of Allah, as for the oppressed, we support him and repel injustice from him, but how do we support the oppressor? He said: You prevent him from injustice, and that is how you support him.
. This is because the oppressor may be overcome by his own self until he commits injustice, so you support him against his own self until you prevent him from injustice. If you see a person oppressing his neighbor by mistreating him and not caring for him, it is obligatory for you to support both of them: the oppressor and the oppressed. You go to the oppressor, the neighbor who neglected the rights of his neighbor, and you advise him and explain to him the sin and punishment in mistreating a neighbor, and the reward and recompense in being a good neighbor. You repeat this to him until Allah guides him and he desists. And you support the oppressed neighbor by saying to him: "I will advise your neighbor, I will speak to him. If Allah guides him, that is what is desired. If he does not heed, let me know, so that you and I can be equal before the judge, for example, or before the ruler, and we can cooperate to repel the injustice of this oppressor."
Likewise, if you find a person denying a right to his brother, and you know that he denied it, and that his brother has this right over him, you go to this oppressor who denied his brother's right and advise him. You explain to him the punishment in consuming wealth by falsehood, and that there is no good in consuming wealth by falsehood, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter, but it is evil, until he pays what he owes. And you go to the owner of the right and say to him: "I am with you, wait, be patient. We are advising him, we are reprimanding him." And so it is with the rest of injustices: you support your brother, whether he is an oppressor or an oppressed. And supporting the oppressor means preventing him from injustice.
As for the seven things he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade in the hadith of al-Bara', among them is wearing a gold ring. Wearing a gold ring is specific to men, so it is not permissible for a man to wear gold, to wear a gold ring, nor to wear a gold bracelet, nor to wear a gold necklace, nor to wear a gold armlet, nor to wear anything on his head made of gold. All gold is forbidden for the man, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding a man he saw wearing a gold ring:
One of you takes a piece of burning coal and puts it on his finger, or he said, on his hand. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took off the ring and threw it away. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left, they said to the man: Take your ring and benefit from it. He said: By Allah, I will not take a ring that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away.
. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the hadith of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib:
Gold and silk have been permitted for the females of my Ummah, and forbidden to the males.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5148Sahih (Darussalam)
.
As for a woman wearing a gold ring, there is no harm in it and no blame. Some scholars have reported the consensus of the scholars on the permissibility of a woman wearing a ring, a bracelet, and the like. As for the hadiths regarding the prohibition of gold ornaments for women, they are either weak or anomalous, and their practice has been abandoned. Many hadiths have been transmitted in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved women wearing gold bracelets and rings.
However, it is obligatory for a woman, if she has jewelry of gold that reaches the nisab, to pay its zakah. She must appraise it every year at its value and pay out one-fifth of one-tenth (2.5%) from it.
Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a woman and her daughter had two thick gold bracelets, meaning two thick bracelets, and he said: Do you pay the zakah of this? She said: No. He said: Would you be pleased if Allah adorned you with two bracelets of fire on the Day of Resurrection? So she took them off and gave them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and she said: They are for Allah and His Messenger.
. The rest of the discussion on the hadith will come, if Allah wills.
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: "From al-Bara' ibn 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to do seven things and forbade us from seven things. He commanded us to visit the sick, follow the funeral procession, respond to the sneezer, fulfill the oath-taker's request, support the oppressed, respond to the one who invites, and spread the greeting of peace. And He forbade us from wearing gold rings, or wearing a gold ring, drinking from silver vessels, wearing red woolen cloaks, carrying bows, and wearing silk, thin silk, and brocade.
, Agreed upon"
