Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths explain the virtue of brothers visiting one another, and of love for the sake of Allah Mighty and Majestic.
In the first hadith, regarding the story of two of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them both), who visited a woman whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to visit, they visited her because of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) visiting her.
When they sat with her, she wept. They said to her: What is making you cry? Do you not know that what is with Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is better for His Messenger? Meaning, better than this world.
She said: I am not weeping for that, but I am weeping because the revelation has ceased. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) died, the revelation ceased, and there is no revelation after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). For this reason, Allah completed His Shari'ah before He took him to Himself. So He the Exalted said:
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
They began to weep, because she reminded them of something they had forgotten.
As for the other hadiths, they also contain the virtue of visiting for the sake of Allah Mighty and Majestic, and that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, rewards the one who visits his brother or visits him in his illness. It is said to him: May you be well and may your walk be pleasant. And it is said to the one who visits his brother for other than a worldly matter, but for his love for him in Allah: It is said to him that Allah has loved you just as you loved him for His sake.
Visiting has benefits in addition to this great virtue and reward: it unites hearts, it gathers people, it reminds the forgetful, it alerts the heedless, it teaches the ignorant, and it contains many benefits that are known by those who have experienced it.
As for visiting the sick, it also contains many benefits and advantages. It has been mentioned to us previously that it is among the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim: to visit him when he is ill, and to remind him of Allah Mighty and Majestic, through repentance, advice, and other things from which he may benefit.
These hadiths and their like all indicate that it is obligatory for a person to do what involves affection and love for his brothers, such as visiting, visiting the sick, gathering, and the like. We ask Allah for success for us and for you in what He loves and is pleased with.
