When the people of Ash`ari tribe ran short of food during the holy battles, or the food of their families in Medina ran short, they would collect all their remaining food in one sheet and then distribute it among themselves equally by measuring it with a bowl. So, these people are from me, and I am from them.

إنَّ الأشعريين إذا أرملوا في الغزو أو قلَّ طعام عيالهم بالمدينة جمعوا ما كان عندهم في ثوب واحد، ثم اقتسموه بينهم في إناء واحد بالسوية فهم مني وأنا منهم

A drink (milk mixed with water) was brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) who drank some of it. A boy was sitting to his right, and some old men to his left. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to the boy, "Do you allow me to give the rest of the drink to these people?" The boy said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I will not give preference to anyone over me to drink the rest of it from which you have drunk." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then handed the bowl (of drink) to the boy.

أنَّ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أُتي بشراب فشرب منه وعن يمينه غلام، وعن يساره الأشياخ، فقال للغلام: أتأذن لي أن أعطي هؤلاء؟ فقال الغلام: لا والله يا رسول الله لا أوثر منك أحدا، فتله رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في يده
