The reciter: He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: " The chapter on humility and lowering one's wing to the believers:
Allah the Exalted said:[Ash-Shu'ara 26:215].
And He the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:54].
And He said:[Al-Hujurat 49:13].
And He said, the Exalted:[An-Najm 53:32].
And He said:[Al-A'raf 7:48-49]".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the book *Riyad al-Salihin*: " The chapter on humility and lowering one's wing to the believers ": Humility is the opposite of arrogance, meaning that a person does not elevate himself or be arrogant toward others by virtue of knowledge, lineage, wealth, status, governorship, ministerial position, or anything else. Rather, it is obligatory for a person to lower his wing to the believers: to be humble toward them, just as the noblest of creation and the highest in rank with Allah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), was humble toward the believers, to the extent that children would hold his hand to take him to their homes so he could relieve himself, peace and blessings be upon him. And the word of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Hijr 15:88].
And in another verse:[Ash-Shu'ara 26:215]: Lower your wing: meaning lower it. This is because the arrogant and haughty person is like a bird soaring in the sky, so he was commanded to lower his wing and bring it down for the believers who followed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). It is known from this that one does not lower one's wing for a disbeliever, and that is the case. Rather, the disbeliever is arrogant toward him and haughty over him, and you should place yourself in a position higher than his, because you are holding fast to the word of Allah, and the word of Allah is the highest. For this reason, Allah Mighty and Majestic said in describing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions: [Al-Fath 48:29] Then the author mentioned the second verse: [Al-Ma'idah 5:54] meaning: whoever among you turns back from his religion, becoming a disbeliever after having been a believer. This can happen; it can happen among people: that a person is within Islam and acts upon it, then Satan -may Allah protect us from him- distorts him until he apostatizes from his religion. When he apostatizes from his religion, he does not become a close friend of Allah for the believers. For this reason, He said: [Al-Ma'idah 5:54] meaning: a group of believers whom He loves and who love Him. [Al-Ma'idah 5:54] As for toward the disbelievers, they are noble and elevated. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bulugh al-Maram 16:10: to humiliate them and weaken them, because they are enemies: enemies to you, enemies to your Lord, enemies to your Messenger, enemies to your religion, and enemies to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
And in this verse is evidence for affirming love from Allah Mighty and Majestic, and that Allah loves and is loved:[Al-Ma'idah 5:54]: and this love is a great love that nothing compares to. You find that for the one who loves Allah Mighty and Majestic, the world becomes cheap in his estimation: family and wealth, and even the self, in what pleases Allah Mighty and Majestic. For this reason, he offers himself and exposes his neck to the enemies of Allah out of love for supporting Allah Mighty and Majestic and supporting His religion. And this is evidence that a person must prioritize what Allah and His Messenger love over what his soul desires. And among the signs of the love of Allah is that a person persists in the remembrance of Allah, constantly remembering his Lord: with his heart, his tongue, and his limbs.
And among the signs of the love of Allah is that one loves those whom Allah Mighty and Majestic loves among people: he loves the Messenger, he loves the Rightly Guided Caliphs, he loves the Imams, and he loves those who were in his time among the people of knowledge and righteousness.
And among the signs of the love of Allah Mighty and Majestic is that a person performs the obedience of Allah, prioritizing that over his own desire. So when the mu'adhdhin calls: "Hurry to prayer," he leaves his work and turns to the prayer, because he loves what pleases Allah more than he loves what his soul approves of. And there are many signs of the love of Allah.
If a person loves his Lord, then Allah Mighty and Majestic is quicker to love him, because He said, Exalted is He, in the Qudsi Hadith:Sahih Muslim 2687a, and if He loves him, that is the objective and that is the greatest. For this reason, He the Exalted said: [Ali 'Imran 3:31], and He did not say: "Follow me and you will be truthful to Allah," but rather He said: , because this is the fruit: that the Lord Mighty and Majestic loves His servant. When He loves His servant, he attains the good of this world and the Hereafter. May Allah make me and you among His loved ones. And in His saying: : is evidence for affirming the love of the servant for his Lord, and this is a clear, real, and observed matter. A person finds in his heart an inclination toward what pleases Allah, and this indicates that he loves Allah Mighty and Majestic. The successful believer who possesses this great attribute is found to love Allah more than himself, more than his child, more than his mother, more than his father; he loves Allah more than everything. And a person loves [others] because he loves Allah, and it is known that the lover loves the loved ones of his beloved. So you find this man, out of his love for Allah, loves those whom Allah Mighty and Majestic loves among people, and what He loves among deeds.
Allah the Exalted said:
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers.
واخفض جناحك لمن اتبعك من المؤمنينAnd He the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers
يا أيها الذين آمنوا من يرتدَّ منكم عن دينه فسوف يأتي الله بقوم يحبهم ويحبونه أذلةٍ على المؤمنين أعزةٍ على الكافرينAnd He said:
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you
يا أيها الناس إنا خلقناكم من ذكر وأنثى وجعلناكم شعوبًا وقبائل لتعارفوا إن أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكمAnd He said, the Exalted:
So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.
فلا تزكوا أنفسكم هو أعلم بمن اتقىAnd He said:
(48) And the companions of the Elevations will call to men [within Hell] whom they recognize by their mark, saying, "Of no avail to you was your gathering and [the fact] that you were arrogant." (49) [Allah will say], "Are these the ones whom you [inhabitants of Hell] swore that Allah would never offer them mercy? Enter Paradise, [O People of the Elevations]. No fear will there be concerning you, nor will you grieve."
