The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the obligation of obeying those in authority in other than disobedience, and the prohibition of obeying them in disobedience: "From 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them), who said:
We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, so we stopped at a resting place. Some of us were repairing their tents, some were practicing archery, and some were with their grazing animals, when the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out: "The prayer is gathered." So we gathered to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "There was no prophet before me but that it was obligatory upon him to guide his nation to the best of what he knew for them, and to warn them of the worst of what he knew for them. And your nation, its well-being has been placed in its beginning, and its end will be afflicted with trials and matters you will find strange. Trials will come, one making the other seem light, and a trial will come and the believer will say: 'This is my destruction,' then it will be resolved. And a trial will come and the believer will say: 'This is it, this is it.' So whoever loves to be saved from the Fire and enter Paradise, let his death come to him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day, and let him bring to people what he loves to be brought to him. And whoever pledges allegiance to an imam and gives him the pledge of his hand and the fruit of his heart, let him obey him as long as he is able; if another comes to contest him, strike off the neck of the other."
Narrated by Muslim.
His statement: "practicing archery" means: competing in shooting with arrows and darts.
And "al-jashar": are the animals that graze and spend the night in their place.
And his statement:
They soften one another.
: means: some of them makes the other seem light, and it was said: some of them resembles the other "
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
This hadith which the author mentioned in *Riyad al-Salihin, in the chapter on the obligation of obeying those in authority: from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them), who said:
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, so we stopped at a place. The people stopped and dispersed; some were repairing their tents, some were practicing archery, and some were with their grazing animals.
: As is customary, when people stop during a journey, everyone occupies himself with what he sees as necessary to attend to,
So the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out, saying: “The prayer is a gathering.”
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 46:44
: and this call is made for the eclipse prayer, and it is called out when the imam or the prince wants the people to gather, instead of saying: "O people, come to this place," he says: "The prayer is gathered" until the people gather. So the people gathered, and the Prophet (may prayers and peace be upon him) delivered a sermon to them and informed them:
That no prophet was sent by Allah except that he guided his nation to the best of what he knew for them, and warned them against the worst of what he knew for them.
: All the prophets (may prayers and peace be upon them) had advice for their people; they taught them good, guided them to it, encouraged them to it, clarified evil, and warned them against it. And thus it is obligatory upon the scholars and students of knowledge to clarify good for people, encourage them to it, clarify evil for them, and warn them against it, because the scholars of this nation are the heirs of the prophets. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is not followed by a prophet; the prophethood was sealed with him, so only the scholars remain who receive his Shari'ah and his religion. It is obligatory upon them what is obligatory upon the prophets: clarifying good, encouraging it, guiding people to it, clarifying evil, and warning against it.
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed: that this nation, meaning the nation of Muhammad, Allah placed its well-being in its beginning, meaning: that the beginning of the nation is in well-being, with no trials in it. In the time of the Prophet (may prayers and peace be upon him), there were no trials. In the time of Abu Bakr, there were no trials. In the time of 'Umar, there was no trial. And when 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was killed, he was killed by the slave of al-Mughirah, a slave called Abu Lu'lu'ah, a wicked Zoroastrian, who had resentment in his heart against the Commander of the Faithful, 'Umar. So when he advanced for the Fajr prayer, he struck him with a dagger that had two heads, and it was said: it was poisoned. He struck him until he cut open his belly (may Allah be pleased with him). He was carried away and remained for three days, then died. Then this wicked man fled, and the people caught up with him and killed thirteen men, because the dagger was with him, its handle in the middle and having two heads, so he was saying with it like this and like this, and striking people, until one of the Companions threw a carpet over him, smothered him, and then he killed himself, refuge is sought in Allah.
From that time, the trial began to raise its head. And the Prophet (may prayers and peace be upon him) informed in this hadith:
That trials will come, each one softening the one before it, meaning that each one
: meaning that some of them makes what came before it light and easy, because the second is greater than the first, each one is greater than the other, so it makes what came before it seem light. For this reason he said:
each making the previous one dwindle into insignificance. When they would be afflicted with a trial, the believer would say: This is going to bring about my destruction.
Sahih Muslim 1844a
: because when it first comes, he is overwhelmed by it and says: "From here we will perish." Then the other comes and makes the first seem light, and the first becomes easy in comparison to it.
and the believer would say: This surely is going to be my end
Sahih Muslim 1844a
: meaning this one in which is all the affliction. But we ask Allah to protect us and you from trials. The believer is patient, seeks reward, and turns to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and seeks refuge in Allah from the trial. And in every prayer he says:
let him seek refuge with Allah from four things: From the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the Fitnah (tribulation) of Masihud-Dajjal.
Sunan Ibn Majah 909Sahih (Darussalam)
. Then the Prophet (may prayers and peace be upon him) said:
Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day
Sahih Muslim 1844a
: We ask Allah to cause us and you to die upon that. Whoever loves to be saved from the Fire and enter Paradise: and we all love that a person be saved from the Fire and escape from it, and enter Paradise.
let him die believing in Allah and the Last Day, and let him treat people as he would like to be treated
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4191Sahih (Darussalam)
: meaning treat people as you love to be treated by them. So advise people as you advise yourself, and dislike for people what you dislike for yourself. So this person is fulfilling the right of Allah, believing in Allah and the Last Day, and fulfilling the right of people. He does not treat people except with what he loves to be treated with, so he does not lie to them, does not cheat them, does not deceive them, and does not wish evil for them. Meaning: treat people as you love to be treated by them. So if he comes and asks, for example: "Is this haram or halal?" We say to him: "Do you love for people to treat you with this?" If he says: "No," we say: "Leave it, whether it is halal or haram. As long as you do not love for people to treat you with it, do not treat people with it. And make this the scale between you and people in dealing with them: do not come to people except with what you love to be brought to you. So treat them with gentleness as you love to be treated with gentleness, with softness, with good speech, with good logic, with clarity, with advice, as you love for them to do this to you.
This is the one who is saved from the Fire and enters Paradise. And we ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to make us and you among them. And Allah is the One who grants success.
