Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter on the Prohibition of Harm. Allah the Exalted said:
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin.
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. And a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden.
Sahih al-Bukhari 10
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And it was narrated from him (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them.
Sahih Muslim 1844a
Narrated by Muslim."

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: Chapter on the Prohibition of Unjust Harm.
Harm includes harm by speech, harm by action, and harm by omission. As for harm by speech, it is to hear one's brother say words that cause him pain, even if they do not harm him; if they do harm him, the sin is even greater.
And harm by action is to squeeze him in his place, in his sitting, in his path, or the like of that.
And harm by omission is to leave something that causes one's Muslim brother to be angry, so that he is harmed by it. And even if it is necessary, all of this is forbidden, and upon him is this severe warning, which is the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin.
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]
"To bear" means to take upon themselves the slander, which is lying, and the clear sin, which is the great punishment. We ask Allah for safety.
And in His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
for [something] other than what they have earned
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]
there is evidence that if a person is harmed for what he has earned, meaning for a deed for which he deserves to be harmed, then there is no harm in it. As in His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone
[An-Nisa 4:16]
And this was in the beginning, that the one who commits sodomy, and may Allah protect us from that, is to be harmed by his companion until he repents and turns away from him. Then it was established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Whomever you find doing the actions of the people of Lut then kill the one doing it, and the one it is done to.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1456Hasan (Darussalam)
Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The Companions agreed that the heinous act of sodomy requires the execution of both the active and passive parties" . But they differed on how he is to be killed: some said he is to be stoned, some said he is to be thrown from the highest point in the city and then pelted with stones, and some said he is to be burned with fire. We ask Allah for safety. So the important point is that harm with right is not a problem. Among such things is when a man hates the truth and hates good, so you do the truth and he is harmed by it. Here, he is harmed with right, because some people, and may Allah protect us from that, are harmed when they see a man holding fast to the Sunnah; they are harmed by it and hate him. This is holding fast to the Sunnah, and even if he is harmed, it is because you harmed him with right.
Then he mentioned two hadiths, one of which is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. And a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden.
Sahih al-Bukhari 10

The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe. He does not curse them, does not insult them, does not abuse them, does not backbite them, and does not talebear about them. He has restrained all the defects of the tongue related to character, so the people are safe from him. And the Muslims are also safe from his hand; he does not transgress against them by striking, stealing, corrupting wealth, or the like. This is the Muslim. And this does not mean that there is no Muslim other than him, but the meaning is that this is part of Islam. Otherwise, the Muslim is the one who submits to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) outwardly and inwardly. But sometimes this expression is used to encourage this action, even if there are others. And the emigrant is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden. It is known that the emigrant is the one who left the land of disbelief to the land of Islam to establish his religion. But emigration comes with another meaning, which is that a person abandons what Allah has forbidden. He does not say a forbidden act, does not do a forbidden act, and does not leave an obligatory act; rather, he performs the obligatory and leaves the forbidden. This is the emigrant, because he abandoned what Allah has forbidden.
As for the second hadith, it is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them.
Sahih Muslim 1844a
His saying "whoever believes"
Whoever wishes
this is a rhetorical question for encouragement. Otherwise, everyone loves to be kept away from the Fire and to enter Paradise. Because whoever is kept away from the Fire and entered into Paradise has succeeded. So whoever loves that, let his death come to him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day.
And based on this, a person should always be in the remembrance of faith in the Last Day and its recollection, because he does not know when death will come to him. So let faith in Allah and the Last Day always be before his eyes.
And when a person believes in Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and in the implications of His names and attributes, and believes in the Last Day and what is in it of reward and punishment, he must be upright upon the religion of Allah. And this is the right of Allah, which I mean by His saying:
believing in Allah and the Last Day
Sunan Ibn Majah 3956Sahih (Darussalam)
As for the right of the human being, He said:
and let him treat people as he would like to be treated
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4191Sahih (Darussalam)
So he does not harm them, because he does not like them to harm him. He does not transgress against them, because he does not like them to transgress against him. He does not abuse them, because he does not like them to abuse him, and so on. He does not deceive them in buying and selling or otherwise, and he does not lie to them, because he does not like that to be done to him. And this is a rule: if people were to follow it in their dealings with one another, they would attain much good. This is similar to the saying of the Messenger (peace be upon him):
None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.
Sahih al-Bukhari 13
And success is from Allah.
