Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Ibn al-Qayyim says: “Whoever seeks the world with the intention of doing good to people with it, it becomes a stratagem of Satan, and he falls into loving the world and becomes preoccupied with it?”

Answer:
No, it does no harm if he seeks sustenance, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Strive to seek that which will benefit youاحرص على ما ينفعك
Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam)
. So if he intends to give charity, do good, and benefit people, he is rewarded, as al-Siddiq did. Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) spent his wealth in supporting the religion, protecting the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and providing for him. Likewise, 'Umar spent vast sums of wealth, and so did 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, and so did the wealthy among the Companions. Allah made them a benefit to the Muslims.
