Q31: The questioner says: Allah the Mighty and Majestic said in Surat al-Dhariyat: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:16], What is ihsan toward Allah and toward creation?
A31: Ihsan, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 50 Ihsan in worship is to perfect it and complete it in the prescribed manner, with sincerity of intention for Allah therein. As for ihsan toward creation, it is done through speech; Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Baqarah 2:83], and through action; by
giving them charity, helping them with their needs, and ihsan toward the neighbor through good neighborly conduct and refraining from harming them, and so on. Ihsan toward people is broad.
Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
آخِذِينَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَA31: Ihsan, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.
أن تعبد الله كأنك تراه، فإن لم تكن تراه فإنه يراكAnd speak to people good [words]
وَقُولُوا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًاgiving them charity, helping them with their needs, and ihsan toward the neighbor through good neighborly conduct and refraining from harming them, and so on. Ihsan toward people is broad.
