The Ruling on One Who Does Not Pray Except in Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Some people do not pray except in Ramadan, and when Ramadan ends, they abandon the prayer?

Answer:
And some people [do not pray] from Friday to Friday. We ask Allah for well-being. Their ruling is disbelief; their ruling is that they are disbelievers, according to the correct opinion of the scholars. Whoever abandons it, even if he does not deny it, has committed disbelief. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
,
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
. Whoever abandons the 'Asr prayer, his work is nullified. The nullification of work occurs through disbelief.
And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthlessوَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالْإِيمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُ
[Al-Ma'idah: 5],
But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
[Al-An'am: 88]. We ask Allah for well-being.
