Is boycotting a disobedient relative a severing of family ties?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If it is among the close relatives, what is the ruling on boycotting (one who severs ties due to his sin)?

Answer:
No, it does not become a severing of ties; because this is for a reason. Ibn Abd al-Qawi (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
Boycotting one who displays sins is a recommended practice
And it has been said: If it deters him, it is obligatory and emphasized
And it has been said: Absolutely, as long as he is open about it
And meet him with a stern, frowning face
Q: Even if it is his uncle, for example?
The Shaykh: Yes, even if it is his brother or his uncle, if he displays the sin.
Q: If he persists when he is boycotted?
The Shaykh: If he sees that continuing to advise is better, may Allah reward him with good. If he sees that his brother or uncle continues to be advised so that he does not persist, he should not boycott him. Rather, his meeting with him should be for the sake of advice, not a meeting for pleasure and affection. It is a meeting of advice; whenever he meets him, he advises and guides him. This is from the category of good, from the category of cooperating in righteousness and piety.
