The ruling on a woman who gave birth and whose husband died after her delivery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A woman gave birth in the hospital, and at the same time, her husband—who was on his way to her at the hospital—was involved in an accident; he died as a result at the same time. Does she have to observe the waiting period?

Answer: She must observe the waiting period for widowhood—which is four months and ten days—if her husband died after she delivered the pregnancy; due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:
And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind - they, [the wives, shall] wait four months and ten [days]وَالَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَاجًا يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا
[Al-Baqarah 2:234]
the verse [al-Baqarah:234]. And success is from Allah.
