The Causes of the Loss of Virginity Are Numerous

Question: How does a husband know that the absence of her virginity is not due to fornication?

Answer: This is not required unless he knows that it was due to a heinous act; because virginity may be lost due to menstruation, and it may be lost due to other causes, such as a fall or the like. She may also have been coerced, and the ruling for the coerced woman is the same as the ruling for one who did not do anything. She may also have done a fourth thing with her consent, but Allah accepted her repentance, and her condition improved due to the goodness of her repentance and her remorse.
