Issue: A man divorced his wife with the three forbidden divorces to be rid of her evil

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz to the honorable brother, the head of the al-Karantina Center in Jeddah, may Allah guide him to all that is good, amen.
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. After that:
O beloved, your noble letter dated 16/11/1389 AH reached us, may Allah guide you. I have reviewed the attached sheet containing your documentation of the nature of the divorce pronounced by the husband on his wife. It states that he divorced her with one divorce, then she held onto him and said to him: "If you are the son of your father, divorce me with the three." He said to her: "You are divorced with the three forbidden divorces." He did not intend by his divorce anything other than to be rid of her evil. It is also stated that he had not divorced her before that, and that he took her back immediately, and that his wife and her guardian, who is her brother, agreed to this, after you had heard the statements of all parties.

Answer: Based on this, I issued a ruling to the aforementioned husband that two divorces have taken effect on the aforementioned wife through his first and last divorce. His taking her back is valid due to the woman's and her guardian's acknowledgment of this. It is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what indicates that his last divorce is considered one divorce.
I hope you will inform everyone of this. We have explained to the husband that pronouncing three divorces is not permissible, and that he must repent for that. He has one divorce remaining.
May Allah reward you, may Allah bless your efforts, and may He reward you for everyone.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
