The ruling on a mother who swears an oath against her children and they disobey her
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I have children, and I often swear at them not to do such and such, but they do not obey my command. Do I have to pay an expiation in this case?
Answer: If you swear an intentional oath against your children or others that they should do something, or that they should not do it, and they disobey you, then you must pay the expiation for an oath; because Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'idah: 89].
Likewise, if you swear to do something or to leave it, and then you see that the benefit lies in the opposite, there is no harm in breaking your oath and paying the aforementioned expiation; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6622 It is agreed upon that it is authentic.
Answer: If you swear an intentional oath against your children or others that they should do something, or that they should not do it, and they disobey you, then you must pay the expiation for an oath; because Allah the Exalted said:
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be grateful.

and whenever you take an oath to do something and later you find that something else is better than the first, then do the better one and make expiation for your oath.
