Ruling on saying: "Husha 'an alf yamin"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Some people, when asked about something and wanting to answer in the negative, say in the colloquial dialect: "Husha, and husha 'an alf yamin, it did not happen so and so." What is the ruling on such a statement in our pure Shari'ah? I hope you will be kind enough to provide information—may Allah reward you with good.

Answer: I do not know of any basis for this, and the correct approach is to state the truth, whether by negation or affirmation, if the question requires it. As for the respondent saying, "I swear a thousand oaths," this has no basis; rather, its meaning is the negation of the thing asked about, as in his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in Surat Yusuf:
And they said, "Far be it from Allah! This is not a human being."وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلّهِ مَا هَذَا بَشَرًا
[Yusuf:31]. May Allah grant success.
