The ruling on saying: “I make du'a' but it is not answered for me”

Question:
When nothing comes to pass for me, I get angry and say things about myself and about Allah. For example, I say: “O Lord, why do You not answer my du'a'?” and other such words when a person feels that his du'a' has not been answered.
Answer:
You, my brother, when the response is delayed, should turn to yourself and hold yourself to account, for Allah , the Wise, the All-Knowing, may delay the response for a profound wisdom, so that you increase your supplication, increase the expression of your need to your Lord, and you humble yourself before Him and be submissive between His hands, so that you obtain from this great good, many benefits, the rectification of your heart, and the softness of your heart, and this is better for you than the need itself. He may also postpone it for other reasons , or He may postpone it for a profound wisdom. So when the need is postponed, do not blame your Lord and do not say, "Why, why, O my Lord?"
Return to yourself and look, for perhaps you have some sins and disobedience that are the cause of the delay in the response. Perhaps there is another matter for which the response was delayed, in which there is good for you. So you do not accuse your Lord, but you must accuse yourself, and you must look into your deeds and your conduct until you rectify your affairs, until you are upright in the command of your Lord, until you worship Him with insight, until you obey His commands, until you refrain from His prohibitions, and until you stand by His limits.
Then know that He, Exalted is He, is Wise and All-Knowing. He may delay the response for a long time, just as He delayed the response of Ya'qub in returning his son Yusuf to him, and he was a Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He may delay the response for a profound wisdom, and He may give you better than what you asked for, or He may avert from you evil that is better than what you asked for. As the hadith came from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:. They said: “O Messenger of Allah, should we then increase?” He said: . It is clear in this hadith that Allah may delay the response to the Hereafter and not hasten it in this world for a profound wisdom, because that is better for His servant and more beneficial for His servant. He may avert from him a great evil that is better for him than the answer to his du'a', or He may hasten it for him.
So you must have good opinion of Allah, and you must persist and be insistent in du'a', for there is much good for you in du'a'. You must accuse yourself and look into your state, and be upright in the obedience of your Lord, and know that your Lord is Wise and All-Knowing, and He may hasten it for a wisdom, or He may give you better than your du'a'. In the authentic hadith, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3387Sahih (Darussalam), where he says: “I called and called, but I do not see it being answered for me.” So he becomes despondent at that, and the du'a' is lost.
So it is not permissible for you to become despondent, and it is not permissible for you to abandon du'a'. Stick to du'a' and be insistent with your Lord, and humble yourself to Him, and hold yourself to account. Beware of the causes of prevention, which are sins and bad deeds. Seek the times of response, such as the last part of the night, between the adhan and the iqamah, at the end of the prayers before the taslim, and in the sujud. All of these are among the causes of response. You must be present-hearted in your du'a' so that you are insistent and call with a present heart. And you must seek lawful earnings, for unlawful earnings are among the causes of non-response.
