“Whoever reads certain surahs of the Qur’an several times, they will not slip away from him”

Question:
The questioner says: I heard from some people that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, the Qur’an slips away from me.” So he (peace be upon him) advised him to read certain surahs of the Qur’an, each surah several times. He did so, and the Qur’an did not slip away from him. Is this correct? What are these surahs if that is the case? Because I am suffering from this problem, which is the Qur’an slipping away from me when I move from memorizing one surah to another? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
That is not correct, nor is it preserved from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as far as we know. However, it is recommended for the believer to strive in reciting the Qur’an and repeating it until it becomes settled, and to ask his Lord to help him with that. He should say: “O Allah, help me to memorize Your Book. O Allah, make it easy for me to memorize Your Book.” He should turn to Allah and ask Him for help, and strive to increase his recitation at the appropriate times when he is at ease, such as at the beginning of the day, or at night, or at other times when he feels he is at rest. By doing so, Allah will help him. And Allah, (Exalted and Majestic is He), says: [Al-Talaq: 2], and He says, (Glorified is He): [Al-Talaq: 4]. So seek the help of your Lord and ask Him for assistance and success, and be glad with good news.
