How to divide a gift among male and female children

Question:
To the honor of our noble Shaykh, Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him).
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. I ask Allah for your continued success and correctness. After that: I gave my children a gift from my wealth, and I considered that justice among them is to give the male the share of two females, as is the requirement of the legal inheritance in their case. However, the daughters expressed some questioning about preferring the males over them in the giving, and they requested that I equalize the gift between the male and female among my children. I seek your ruling on whether what I did is the justice that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded in his saying: Or is justice to equalize the female with the male in the gift among the children? I ask you to be generous to your son by answering the question. May Allah preserve you.

Answer:
And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
What you did is justice, in our belief and in what we issue as rulings. It is in accordance with Allah’s division in inheritance, and He is the Just Judge in His law and His decree. So I ask Allah to guide everyone to what pleases Him. Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
