A father's gift to his children: the male receives the share of two females
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: To the magnificence of our noble Shaykh, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him).
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. I ask Allah for your continued success and correctness. After that:
I gave my children a gift from my wealth, and I considered that justice among them is giving the male the share of two females, as is required by the legal inheritance rights concerning them. However, the daughters expressed some questioning about the male being preferred over them in the gift, and they requested that I equalize the gift between the male and female among my children. I seek your ruling, O your magnificence: Is what I did the justice that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded in his saying? Or is justice: equalizing the female with the male in the gift among the children? I ask your magnificence to be generous to your son by answering the question? May Allah preserve you.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
What you did is justice, in our belief and in what we issue as rulings, and it is in accordance with Allah's division in inheritance, and He is the Just Judge in His law and His decree. I ask Allah to guide everyone to what pleases Him.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
