Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the authenticity of the hadith
for Allah created Adam in His own imageإن الله خلق آدم على صورته
Sahih Muslim 2612e
, or
in the image of the Most Mercifulعلى صورة الرحمن
?

Answer:
The hadith is authentic,
created Adam in His own imageخلق آدم على صورته
Sahih Muslim 2612e
, meaning He is All-Hearing and All-Seeing, He speaks, He has an eye, He has a hand, and He has a foot. However, its meaning is not likeness,
There is nothing like unto Himلَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Surat al-Shura: 11] (Glorified and Exalted is He),
Nor is there to Him any equivalent."وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
[Surat al-Ikhlas: 4]. But its meaning is that He created Him in His image, All-Hearing and All-Seeing, with a face, a hand, and a foot; He knows, hears, and sees. This is what the people of the Sunnah said, such as Ahmad and Ishaq, may Allah have mercy on them.
