What is the degree of authenticity of the hadith: (Indeed, Allah created Adam in His image), and the hadith: (Indeed, Allah created Adam in the image of the Most Merciful)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
May Allah preserve you, O honorable father, what is the degree of authenticity of the hadith:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
, and the hadith:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : We have written a research paper on this issue in one of my books, and it is likely in "The Series of Weak and Fabricated Hadiths and Their Bad Effect on the Ummah." The first hadith:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
is a valid hadith, narrated byThe Shaykh : in "their two Sahihs." As for the other hadith with the wording:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
, the best that can be said about the phrase "the Most Merciful" is that it is anomalous, and the truth is that it is denounced; because if this hadith had a valid chain of narration, we would say that this phrase:
The Most Merciful
is anomalous according to the method of the hadith scholars: that if a trustworthy narrator adds an extra phrase to a hadith that contradicts one who is more trustworthy than him, his addition is anomalous. But if the one who added to the trustworthy narrator is the one who added, his addition is denounced. The reality of this hadith is that it is of this type; because it does not have a valid chain of narration, as we detailed the statement on that in the source mentioned earlier.
As for the valid hadith, it has two narrations: the first narration: was mentioned earlier, and the other narration is the one that contradicts that denounced narration, and explains and specifies the referent of the pronoun in the valid narration:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
That is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah in "Sahih al-Bukhari," he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
in "Sahih al-Bukhari,"
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
The length of whom? Is it among the attributes of the Lord of the Worlds that He has length and width? Far be it from Allah! Rather, this hadith is explicit that the referent of the pronoun in the first valid hadith:
for Allah created Adam in His own image
Sahih Muslim 2612e
meaning: the image of Adam. And it came in some hadiths that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this hadith on the occasion that one of them struck the face of a person and said:
Indeed, Allah created Adam in His image
, meaning: that his sons are in the image of Adam, and the image of Adam came its explanation in the hadith of al-Bukhari:
His length is sixty cubits, in six cubits
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 33:54
He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
So the creation has kept decreasing until now
, so then, after the coming of this valid hadith that specifies the referent of the pronoun, there remains no room for clinging to the second hadith which says:
Adam was created in the image of the Most Merciful
for two reasons: As for the first: that it does not have a valid chain of narration, and the other: that it contradicted the valid hadith that al-Bukhari narrated in "his Sahih," so the evaluation you will find in that place.
Yes.
