A question regarding the distribution of the expiation for an oath

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The brother S. A. H. 'A. from Al-Mukhayya in Al-Bahah.
He says in his question: A person gave me one hundred Saudi riyals to purchase an expiation and distribute it on his behalf. I bought food items worth ninety riyals and divided this food into two portions, giving each portion to a person. Ten riyals remained with me. After a week, I bought food with them and gave it to one of the people I had given to the first time. I note that both were in dire need of this food.
My question is: Is what I did sufficient, or do you have another guidance for your permissiveness? Please inform me, may Allah reward you with good, so that my conscience may be clear.

Answer:
If the expiation is the expiation for an oath, it is obligatory to distribute the food among ten poor people, and feeding two people is not sufficient; because of the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in Surat al-Ma'idah:
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oathsلاَ يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا عَقَّدتُّمُ الأَيْمَانَ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ وَاحْفَظُواْ أَيْمَانَكُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:89]
the verse [al-Ma'idah:89].
By this, you should know that it is obligatory for the person who entrusted you with the expiation to feed eight poor people in addition to the two you fed, in accordance with the noble verse. This is if he forgives you for what you did. However, if he does not forgive you, you must pay the expiation for the remaining eight, giving each one half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country, such as dates, wheat, or something else, if he had ordered you to distribute the expiation among ten. This is because by this action you have contradicted the order; therefore, it is obligatory for you to pay. May Allah guide them all.
