What is the ruling on one who burns pages of the Noble Qur'an by mistake

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the recompense for one who burned the Noble Qur'an by mistake, and this was not known until after the act had passed?

Answer:
He owes nothing as long as it was by mistake, such as if he burned it while not knowing that it was the Qur'an. Likewise, if he burned it intentionally because it was torn and could not be used, so that it would not be disrespected, there is no harm on him. This is because when the Qur'an is torn and shredded and cannot be used, it is burned or buried in a clean place so that it is not disrespected.
As for if he burned it out of hatred for it, cursing it, and loathing it, this is a great abomination and apostasy from Islam. Likewise, if he sat on it or stepped on it with his foot to insult it, or smeared it with impurity, or cursed it, or cursed the one who spoke it, this is major shirk and apostasy from Islam—may Allah protect us from that.
