A Question on Ruqyah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The honorable Shaykh, may Allah preserve you, I was with one of my friends, and he said to me: If you want to reveal a lost item through the noble Book of Allah, do the following:
1 - Take the Book of Allah and open it to Surat al-Kahf, specifically to the verse
And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within itوَوُضِعَ الْكِتَابُ فَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ
[al-Kahf:49] to the end of the verse.
2 - Take a door key, provided that it is facing the qiblah.
3 - Place the key on the line containing the verse in Surat al-Kahf.
4 - Take a piece of clean cloth, recite the testimony of faith over the book, and make it free.
5 - Recite "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate," three times, and say: O Allah, I ask You by the right of Your great name, and I ask You by the right of Your great Book, and I ask You by the right of Your noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), to hide the falsehood from us and reveal the truth to us. O Allah, if so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, has taken the object from the house of so-and-so, then make this book indicate it.
Knowing, may Allah preserve you, that a theft occurred in one of the houses, so they did this, and the indicator pointed to the thief, and the money was taken from him. He says that this practice is not outside the verses of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We ask for a detailed answer regarding this practice, and may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This practice is a bid'ah (religious innovation) and batil (invalid), and it has no basis in the pure Shari'ah. Therefore, it is obligatory to abandon it and warn against it; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
agreed upon for its authenticity, and in a narration by Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
, and success is from Allah.
