The ruling on feeling the onset of menstrual blood during sa'y

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: I performed 'Umrah in the month of Ramadan, and I performed tawaf around the House. During sa'y, I felt a little blood come out, so I completed the sa'y. Then it was the time for the Zuhr prayer, so I entered the Haram and prayed Zuhr. Is my 'Umrah valid, and is the Zuhr prayer I prayed valid?

Answer:
Yes, sa'y does not require ritual purity. If you completed the tawaf while in a state of purity, then praise be to Allah; sa'y does not require ritual purity. Purity is better, but if a woman or a man performs sa'y without being in a state of purity, there is no blame on them. The well-known view is that the purity required is specifically for tawaf. If you prayed while you were certain that blood had come out, then the prayer is not valid. You must repeat it after purifying yourself, because blood invalidates wudu'. If it was menstrual blood, you must repeat it after becoming pure from menstruation. If it was incidental bleeding, wash what affected your body from it, perform wudu' for the prayer, and repeat it. As for if what came out of you was menstrual blood, this relates to making up the prayer that you caught while in a state of purity. If you make it up after becoming pure, that is good. Otherwise, it is not obligatory to make it up, because menstruation prevents prayer and does not obligate making it up, praise be to Allah. But if you make it up out of caution, there is nothing wrong with that.
