Ruling on a woman making up the Zuhr prayer if she becomes pure during the time of the 'Asr prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a woman becomes pure from her menstruation during one of the five prayer times, what is obligatory for her? Does she pray? And does she make up the prayer that was immediately before her purification, such as if she becomes pure during the time of 'Asr? Does she make up Zuhr, or if she becomes pure during the time of Maghrib? Does she make up 'Asr, and so on? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
If she becomes pure during the time of a prayer that is combined with the one following it, she prays the two. So if she becomes pure during the time of 'Asr, she prays Zuhr and 'Asr. If she becomes pure during the time of 'Isha', she prays Maghrib and 'Isha'. If she becomes pure after the appearance of the dawn, she prays Fajr only. This is what is obligatory for her, as a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) issued a ruling to this effect; because she is like a sick person who combines the two prayers. So if she becomes pure during 'Asr, she is like a sick person who prays Zuhr and 'Asr. And if she becomes pure at night, she prays Maghrib and 'Isha'.
As for if she does not become pure until after the appearance of the dawn, she prays Fajr only, as mentioned previously. However, if her purification and the cessation of her bleeding occur after the sun has risen, so that she does not become pure until the late morning, she owes nothing; because the time for the Fajr prayer has passed and its time is gone. But if she becomes pure during a prayer time, such as if she becomes pure before the sun rises, she prays Fajr. And if she becomes pure before Fajr, she prays Maghrib and 'Isha'. And if she becomes pure before the sun sets, she prays Zuhr and 'Asr, as mentioned before.
