What does one say when he hears the mu'adhdhin?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it established in the wasilah after the adhan to say: "Who You have promised, You do not break the promise"? Or is it sufficient to say
And send him, O Allah, to the praised station
only? And likewise, when the iqamah is called, what is said when the caller says: "The prayer has begun"?

Answer:
It is recommended for the Muslim, when he hears the adhan, to say the same as the mu'adhdhin, except for the two calls to prayer; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When you hear the Mu'adhdhin then say what he says
Sunan an-Nasa'i 678Sahih (Darussalam)
. It is agreed upon as authentic. And based on what Muslim narrated in his Sahih from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he heard the adhan, said the same as the mu'adhdhin, and when he heard "Hasten to prayer, hasten to success," he said:
la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahلا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله
Sunan Ibn Majah 3885Da'if (Darussalam)
Then he said the same as the mu'adhdhin at the end of the adhan, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever says that from his heart will enter Paradise
, and based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
When you hear the mu'adhdhin, say as he says, then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times. Then ask Allah for the wasilah, for it is a rank in Paradise that is not fitting except for a servant of Allah, and I hope that I will be he.
Narrated by Muslim in his Sahih.
And al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu' [O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrectionمن قال حين يسمع النداء: اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة والصلاة القائمة، آت محمدًا الوسيلة والفضيلة، وابعثه مقامًا محمودا الذي وعدته، حلت له شفاعتي يوم القيامة
Sahih al-Bukhari 614
. Al-Bayhaqi added with a good chain from Jabir after his saying "Who You have promised": "You do not break the promise."
And it is recommended to respond to the muqim as one responds to the mu'adhdhin, and to say when the muqim says: "The prayer has begun," the same: "The prayer has begun, the prayer has begun." Likewise, it is recommended to say when the mu'adhdhin says in the Fajr adhan "Prayer is better than sleep," the same: "Prayer is better than sleep," due to the generality of the aforementioned hadiths and others.
As for what is narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said when leading the prayer:
May Allah establish it and make it lasting
, it is a weak hadith that is not relied upon. And success is from Allah.
