Discussion of the rulings of the prostration for forgetfulness.

The Shaykh : Before we discuss the topic of today's lesson, we will speak about something regarding the prostration for forgetfulness. Forgetfulness in prayer is a reality for every person, to the extent that the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the Companions would forget in their prayers. Even the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forgot in his prayer; he forgot just as we do today. He stood up from the first tashahhud, and when he finished the prayer and the people were waiting for his taslim, he said takbir and prostrated two prostrations before he said the taslim, then he said the taslim. The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) derived a useful rule from this: that whoever leaves an obligatory part of the prayer, he prostrates for forgetfulness before the taslim. That is, if you leave the first tashahhud and stand up, do not go back; continue in your prayer, then prostrate the two prostrations before you say the taslim. Likewise, if you forget to say "Subhan al-‘Aliyy al-A‘la" in the prostration, continue in your prayer and prostrate two prostrations before you say the taslim. And so on, for every leaving of an obligatory part, a person prostrates two prostrations and his prayer is completed. This is from the mercy of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
