Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): “Chapter on the recommendation for a traveler to hasten his return to his family once he has fulfilled his need:
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 984 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim”.
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book *Riyad al-Salihin* regarding what concerns travel: “Chapter on the recommendation for a traveler to hasten his return to his family once he has fulfilled his need”:
And that is because when a traveler travels, he leaves his family, and they may need him for upbringing, education, care, and other matters. Perhaps things may happen to them that require their guardian to be with them. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded, as in this hadith mentioned by the author, that when a person has satisfied his desire from his travel, he should return to his family. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in this hadith:Sahih al-Bukhari 5429: meaning by that the torment of the conscience and the torment of the body, especially in the previous era, when travels were on camels and involved great hardships, fear, cold in winter, and heat in summer. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , meaning travel Sahih al-Bukhari 1804: because one’s mind is preoccupied, and food and drink do not come to him as in regular meals, and likewise with sleep. If that is the case, then a person should return to rest, to his family and his land, to care for his family, discipline them, and do other such things.
And in this is evidence that a person staying with his family is better than his traveling, unless there is a need. The point is that his family needs him. For this reason, when Malik ibn al-Huwayrith and with him about twenty men from his tribe came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and stayed with him for about twenty nights, and he saw that they had become homesick for their families, he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 631: This indicates that a person should not be absent from his family except to the extent of the need, otherwise he should return; this is what is best. And success is from Allah.

Travelling is a torment because it deprives a traveller of his food, drink and sleep. So when one of you has accomplished his purpose of journey, let him return home quickly.
