The reciter: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "The chapter on the recommendation of arriving at one's family during the day and the dislike of doing so at night unless there is a need:
It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you stays away (from his family) for a long period of time, let him not surprise his family by night.
Riyad as-Salihin 985
.
In another narration:
Yahya related to me from Malik from one of the Ansar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade defecating or urinating while facing the qibla.
Muwatta Malik 14:2
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And it was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would not come (back) to his family by night. He used to come in the morning or in the evening (before dark).
Riyad as-Salihin 986
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
The chapter on the recommendation of the traveler beginning with the mosque in his neighborhood and praying two rak'ahs in it:
It was narrated from Ka'b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him):
Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned from a journey, he would proceed straight to the mosque and perform two Rak'ah of (optional) prayer.
Riyad as-Salihin 988
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim"
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These two chapters are from the etiquettes of travel:
The first chapter: That if a person is away from his family and his absence is prolonged, he should not come to them at night, meaning: he should not come to them at night except for a need or to inform them. The need is, for example, if he encounters hardship during his journey if he were to wait until morning, so this is a need, and he may come to them at night without blame. Likewise, if he has informed them, saying: I will come to you on such-and-such a night, then there is no harm in coming to them at night. However, if he has prolonged his absence, he should not come to them at night, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) gave the reason for this, saying:
so that the disheveled woman combs herself and the woman whose husband has been away cleans herself
Sunan Abi Dawud 2778Sahih (Al-Albani)
: meaning, its significance is so that the woman may adorn herself and beautify herself for her husband, lest he come to her while her hair is disheveled and not combed, or she has not shaved her pubic hair. Therefore, the issue is qualified by the condition that the journey is prolonged. As for if the journey is not prolonged, such as a journey of one or two days or the like, there is no blame on him for coming to his family whenever he wishes.
The conclusion is that if he has prolonged his absence, he should not come to his family at night except for a need or if he has informed them of it, saying: I will come on such-and-such a plane on such-and-such a night, then there is no harm.
