The reader: And may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on encouraging the recitation of specific surahs and verses: "From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):Riyad as-Salihin 1010 .
In another narration: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: أيعجِز أحدكم أن يقرأ بثلث القرآن في ليلة ؟! فشقَّ ذلك عليهم وقالوا : أينا يطيق ذلك يا رسول الله ؟! فقال : قل هو الله أحد ، الله الصمد : ثلث القرآن "Is it too difficult for any of you to read one-third of the Qur'an in one night? This was hard for them, and they said: 'Which of us is capable of that, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Say, He is Allah, the One, Allah, the Self-Sufficient: one-third of the Qur'an'" Al-Bukhari narrated it.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him):Muwatta Malik 15:19 Al-Bukhari narrated it".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he transmitted of the hadiths in the chapter on encouraging specific surahs from the Book of Allah regarding the virtue of:[Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4] : This surah is called Surah al-Ikhlas (The Sincerity), because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made it pure for Himself, so He did not mention in it anything except the names of Allah and His attributes. Also, whoever recites it believing in it and holding to what it indicates is sincere, sincere to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), safe from shirk (associating partners with Allah). This entire surah is names of Allah and His attributes: [Al-Ikhlas 112:1] It is said: "The polytheists asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: 'Describe your Lord to us?' Meaning, what is his description? Meaning, as if they were asking: Who is his son, refuge in Allah, or that they asked him what he is made of? Is he from gold or silver or something similar? So Allah revealed this verse, this surah [Al-Ikhlas 112:1] ", Ahad: meaning One, unique among all His creations (Exalted and Majestic is He), nothing of His creations resembles Him, and Ahad: a name specific to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), not applied to anyone else.
al-Samad: The expressions of the exegetes differ regarding its meaning, but the comprehensive meaning of them is: "That al-Samad is the Perfect in His attributes, to whom all His creations are in need": He is the Perfect in His knowledge, in His power, in His mercy, in His forbearance, and in other of His attributes. And He is also the One to whom all His creations are in need. All creation turns to Him in their need and asks Him, even the polytheists when they are in the sea and the waves surge, they only call upon Allah alone. So He (Exalted and Majestic is He) is the destination of all creation. So al-Samad then means: "The Perfect in His attributes, to whom all His creations are in need".
[Al-Ikhlas 112:3-4]: He begets: He has no children (Mighty and Majestic), because He is rich in Himself and in need of no one. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-An'am 6:101], and in this is a refutation and invalidation of what the Jews, Christians, and polytheists claimed.
The Jews said: 'Azir is the son of Allah, meaning they said: Allah begets, and his son is 'Azir. The Christians said: The Messiah is the son of Allah. The polytheists said: The angels are the daughters of Allah. So Allah invalidated all of that[Al-Ikhlas 112:3]: And that is because He (Exalted and Majestic is He) is the First, before whom there was nothing. So He is the First, and what is after Him came into existence after it was not.
As for the Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He), He is the First, the Eternal, the Everlasting.
[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]: Meaning, no one is equal to Him and no one is a peer to Him, not in His knowledge, not in His power, and not in anything else.
And when 'Ad boasted of their strength and they said:[Fussilat 41:15], Allah the Exalted said: [Fussilat 41:15-16]: A wind, air from the softest of creations. This air destroyed them completely, and they were saying: [Fussilat 41:15], and Allah the Exalted has no equal for anyone.
And know that in "kafuwan" (equal) there are three recitations: with a dammah on the fa and a waw, meaning it is with a waw and a dammah on the fa , and it is not correct to say "kufwa" with a sukun on the fa.
And in it are two other recitations with a hamza and a sukun on the fa, and with a hamza and a dammah on the fa: kaf'an and kafuwan. And as for with the waw, it is with a dammah. We often hear many reciters reciting it with a sukun with the waw, and this is a grammatical error. So if you recite it with the waw, you put a dammah on the fa: kufuwa.[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) swore that this surah is equal to one-third of the Qur'an. And he said to his companions: أيعجز أحدكم أن يقرأ ثلث القرآن في ليلة ؟ فشق عليهم ذلك فقال : قل هو الله أحد * الله الصمد * لم يلد ولم يولد * ولم يكن له كفوا أحد تعدل ثلث القرآن Is it too difficult for any of you to recite a third of the Qur'an in one night? It was hard for them, so he said: Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him. This is equal to a third of the Qur'an.: Meaning, in reward, its reward is like the reward of one-third of the Qur'an, but it does not suffice in place of the Qur'an. For this reason, if a person recites it, for example, three times instead of reciting al-Fatihah in prayer, it does not suffice for him, because there is a difference between equivalence in reward and equivalence in sufficiency. A thing may be equivalent to another in its reward but not equivalent to it in its sufficiency. Have you seen, for example, if a person says: Riyad as-Salihin 1411, meaning it is equivalent to freeing four slaves, but if a person had a slave to free and said: There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things competent, ten times, I would not accept it for him. So we must know the difference between equivalence in reward and equivalence in sufficiency. It is equal to one-third of the Qur'an in reward, but it is not equal to one-third of the Qur'an in sufficiency. For this reason, if a person repeats it in his prayer three times, it does not suffice for him in place of al-Fatihah. And Allah grants success.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on encouraging the recitation of specific surahs and verses: "From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'an."

And from him (may Allah be pleased with him):
that Abu Said al-Khudri heard a man reciting Surat al-Ikhlas (Sura 112), repeating it over and over again. In the morning he went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned it to him, as if he thought little of it. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Bythe One in whose hand my self is, it is equal to one third of the Qur'an."
