The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths are in explanation of the virtue of the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer:
Among them is the first hadith: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever offers the morning prayer, he is under the protection of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. مَن صلى الفجر فهو في ذمة الله عز وجل
Sunan Ibn Majah 3946Sahih (Darussalam)
: meaning in His covenant and safety,
And it can never happen that Allah should demand anything from you in connection with the protection (that He guarantees) فلا يطلبنكم الله من ذمته في شيء
Sahih Muslim 657a
: meaning do not betray and do not do a bad deed, lest Allah the Exalted demand of you what He covenanted with you, and this is evidence that the Fajr prayer is like a key to the prayer of the day, indeed to the work of the whole day, and that it is like a covenant between Allah and the servant that the servant should carry out the obedience of his Lord (Mighty and Majestic), complying with His command and avoiding His prohibition.
And among the virtues of that: among the virtues of the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer: that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) assigned angels to the servants, succeeding angels who succeed one another among us, protecting us from the command of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), they gather at the Fajr prayer and at the 'Asr prayer, then those who spent the night among us ascend to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and He asks them—and He (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows best—How did you leave My servants? He asks them that to manifest the honor of worship and to exalt their virtue, and it is not hidden from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), because He knows the secret and what is more hidden, but to manifest their virtue He asks them How did you leave My servants? He says:
We came to them while they were praying, meaning and we left them while they were praying أتيناهم وهم يصلون ، يعني وتركناهم وهم يصلون
: because they come at the beginning of the night and at the beginning of the day, so they succeed one another at the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer, these descend and these ascend, and Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) appointed the time of their descent and ascent with these two prayers because of their virtue, because the 'Asr prayer is the middle prayer, and the Fajr prayer is the witnessed prayer.
