Issue: The ruling on giving charity by one who has a debt?

The Shaykh : Here is an issue: some people have a debt, and then they give charity, saying, "I love the reward of charity." This is forbidden. How can you give charity when you are in debt? Pay the obligatory debt first, then give voluntary charity. The one who gives charity while having a debt is like the one who builds a palace and demolishes a city. You are currently obligated to pay your debt. How can you give charity? Pay it off, then give charity.
