The questioner : May Allah reward you. The questioner, Umm Muhammad from Hawdat Banu Tamim, says: “Your Eminence, a sick woman breastfed her daughter without knowing that her illness was serious and contagious, and the daughter died, and the mother did not know that the cause of her death was the infection until later. What is the ruling in this case? And if she owes an expiation of fasting, but she is currently unable to do so due to her health condition, what should she do?”
The Shaykh : She owes nothing. A woman did what Allah made obligatory upon her, which is breastfeeding her daughter, and she did not know that she had a contagious disease, so she owes nothing. She is a doer of good, and Allah the Exalted said:[At-Tawbah 9:91]
I ask Allah the Exalted to make her daughter an intercessor for her and for her father.

There is not upon the doers of good any cause [for blame]
ما على المحسنين من سبيلI ask Allah the Exalted to make her daughter an intercessor for her and for her father.
