A man who owes the expiation for accidental killing and is unable to fast because he is suffering from diabetes: what is required of him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh: A man is suffering from diabetes, and he owes the expiation of fasting for two months—the expiation for accidental killing—but he is unable to fast due to his illness. What is required of him?

The Shaykh : If he is unable to fast, he owes nothing, because the expiation for killing contains only the freeing of a slave or fasting for two consecutive months, as stated in Surat al-Nisa:
And whoever does not find [one or cannot afford to buy one] - then [instead], a fast for two months consecutively, [seeking] acceptance of repentance from Allah. And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[An-Nisa 4:92]
, and it does not include feeding. If he is able to fast, he fasts; otherwise, it is dropped from him.
