Does this hadith apply to both women and men equally (the cursing of the one who connects hair and the one who has it connected)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. Does the cursing in the hadith apply specifically to women, or does it include men?

The Shaykh : Yes, this is an important question:
Here, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who connects hair and the one who has it connected, and the one who tattoos and the one who has a tattoo. Does this include men?
Yes, it includes men, but he specified women because that is the common practice; it is common for women to be the ones who do this.
And this is an important point, meaning that a man is not fit for adornment or beautification. A man should have a degree of roughness that distinguishes him from women. As for him turning himself into something effeminate, making himself soft, gentle, and effeminate as women do, this is contrary to manliness; this is contrary to manliness.
So if someone asks: Do you have evidence that something may be specified for women when it is general, based on the fact that they are the majority in doing it?
We said: Yes, Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter إن الذين يرمون المحصنات الغافلات المؤمنات لعنوا في الدنيا والآخرة
[An-Nur 24:23]
And this includes?
The student: Men and women.

The Shaykh : Men and women. And He said:
And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes والذين يرمون المحصنات ثم لم يأتوا بأربعة شهداء فاجلدوهم ثمانين جلدة
[An-Nur 24:4]
And this encompasses whoever throws [accusations] at women and men.
And in the authentic hadith regarding the major sins, he said:
slandering chaste women who are believers, but unwary وقذف المحصنات الغافلات المؤمنات
Sahih Muslim 89
, and falsely accusing men is likewise. But because they did not customarily engage in such matters except with women at that time, the evidence specified it to women.
So the hadith here includes men and women, and in fact, it is more severe for men. A man is not fit for connecting hair or for tattooing. Yes.
