The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter on the permissibility of cursing the perpetrators of sins who are not specifically named. It is established in the authentic collections that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
He cursed the one who joins hair and the one who has her hair joined لعن الواصلة والمستوصلة
And he said
May Allah curse the one who eats riba لعن الله آكل الربا
And he cursed the image-makers."

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
These hadiths... the author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited them to clarify the permissibility of cursing the people of sins who are not specifically named. It was previously mentioned in the preceding chapter that it is not permissible to curse a specific person, even if he is a disbeliever. As for someone who is not specifically named, such that a person curses whoever possesses this characteristic, there is nothing wrong with that. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he cursed the one who joins hair and the one who has it joined. The one who joins hair is the one who attaches hair, and the one who has it joined is the one who requests that it be attached. That is, a woman whose head has short and sparse hair adds something to her head in the form of hair so that it appears long and thick when people see it. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) cursed whoever does that. The apparent meaning of the hadith is that even if her hair is very sparse, it is not permissible for her to do that. Included in this is what is called a wig. Some of our distinguished scholars said that wearing a wig is a form of joining hair, and that the one who wears a wig, even for the sake of adornment, is cursed, may Allah protect us from that.
And does this extend to what is called colored contact lenses, which some women wear? It might be said that it does extend to that, because the woman places something that beautifies her eye, making her eye look like the eye of another person, either red or green. I have even heard some of them say that they make their lenses green, some blue, and so on. The precaution is to say that they are included in that, because there is no difference between them and hair.
If someone were to say, "These are like kohl, which does not remain," we would say, "So too, joined hair does not remain." For this reason, I fear that these colored contact lenses are of the same kind as joining hair. Furthermore, it is established from a medical standpoint that they are harmful to the eye. Even if the harm is not visible in the short term, it is visible in the long term.
He said: "And it is established that he cursed the one who consumes riba (usury or interest)." Meaning, and the one who lends it. The Messenger (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) cursed five people in regard to riba (usury or interest): the one who consumes it.
