The Ruling on the Claim that Any Religion Other Than Islam Is Valid
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Praise be to Allah alone. And after that: The following message has reached us:
His Eminence the Shaykh / Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him)
Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings.
In the modern era, a group has emerged that has spread in Europe and America, to which a number of intellectuals, thinkers, and authors affiliated with Islam have joined. The creed of this group is summarized as follows: that the major religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others, are valid and acceptable religions in the sight of Allah , and that the sincere among their followers will attain the truth, be saved from the Fire, and enter Paradise without any need for entering Islam in all of this. I ask your Eminence to respond to this claim.
And the answer: Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon whoever follows his guidance. After that:
This aforementioned claim is invalid according to the texts of the Book and the Sunnah and the consensus of the scholars.
As for the Book: His saying, Exalted and Majestic is He: [Al Imran: 19], and His saying, the Exalted: [Al Imran: 85], and His saying in Surat al-Ma'idah: [Al Ma'idah: 3]. And the verses in this meaning are many.
As for the Sunnah: Among them is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 153 It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih.
In the two Sahihs, it is narrated from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 438 And indicating this meaning from the Noble Qur'an is the saying of the Exalted:[Saba:28] and His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):: [Al-An'am:19] and the saying of the Exalted:[Ibrahim 14:52] the verse [Ibrahim:52], and His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He)in Surat al-A'raf regarding His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him):[Al-A'raf:157] Then the Exalted said after that:[Al-A'raf:158].
The scholars have agreed that the message of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is general for all the two heavy burdens (jinn and humans), and that whoever does not believe in him and follow what he brought is from the people of the Fire and from the disbelievers, whether he is a Jew, a Christian, a Hindu, a Buddhist, a Communist, or otherwise.
So it is obligatory for all the two heavy burdens of jinn and humans to believe in Allah and His Messenger, and to worship Allah alone without anything else, and to follow His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) until death, and thereby they will attain happiness, salvation, and success in this world and the Hereafter, as mentioned in the previous verses and the noble hadith.
And as Allah said:[Ghafir 40:51] ON THE DAY WHEN THE EXCUSES OF THE WRONGDOERS WILL NOT BENEFIT THEM, AND FOR THEM IS THE CURSE, AND FOR THEM IS THE EVIL ABODE [Ghafir: 51-52], and He said, the Exalted: [Al-Hajj 22:40] THOSE WHOM WE ESTABLISHED IN THE LAND ESTABLISHED PRAYER AND GAVE ZAKAH AND ENJOINED WHAT IS RIGHT AND FORBADE WHAT IS WRONG, AND TO ALLAH BELONGS THE OUTCOME OF ALL MATTERS [Al Hajj: 40-41], and He said in Surat al-Nur: [Al Nur: 55]. And the verses in this meaning are many.
And all religions that contradict Islam contain shirk (associating partners with Allah) and kufr (disbelief) regarding Allah that contradicts the religion of Islam with which Allah sent the messengers and sent down the books, and with which He sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the Seal of the Prophets and the best of them. And in them is the lack of belief in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the lack of following him, and that is sufficient for their disbelief and their deserving the anger of Allah and His punishment, and their being deprived of entering Paradise and deserving to enter the Fire, except for the one to whom the call of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reach; then his affair is left to Allah , and the correct view is: that he will be tested on the Day of Resurrection; if he responds to what is asked of him, he will enter Paradise, and if he disobeys, he will enter the Fire. The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) elaborated on this issue and its evidence at the end of his book: (Tariq al-Hijratayn) under the title: The Ranks of Those Obligated to Obey, so whoever wants it should refer to it to benefit from the great benefit. And Allah is the One who grants success, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.

As for the Book: His saying, Exalted and Majestic is He:
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam
And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.
As for the Sunnah: Among them is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me, but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire.
In the two Sahihs, it is narrated from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
I have been given five things which were not given to any amongst the Prophets before me. These are: -1. Allah made me victorious by awe (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey. -2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum. Therefore my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due. -3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me (and was not made so for anyone else). -4. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation exclusively but I have been sent to all mankind.
And We have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner
And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches.
This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby
So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.
Say, [O Muhammad], "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death." So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided.

And as Allah said:
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand -
And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient.
