What is your opinion on the rapprochement between religions?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
May peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
May Allah raise your rank and gather us with you in the Gardens of Delight.

The Shaykh : Amen.

The questioner : What is your opinion, may Allah reward you with good, regarding what is called the rapprochement between religions? For example, a meeting between Muslims and Christians to try to strengthen the bonds between them, or between the Sunni Muslims and the Rafidah.

The Shaykh : I see, may Allah bless you, that it is not permissible at all for us to affirm that the Christians are upon a religion, or that the Jews are upon a religion. They all have no religion, because their religion has been abrogated by what? By the religion of Islam. So, for us to say "religions," we do not affirm this at all. We say that the Jews are not upon anything, and the Christians are not upon anything, and the religion is the religion of Islam, as He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers. ومن يبتغ غير الإسلام دينا فلن يقبل منه وهو في الآخرة من الخاسرين
[Ali 'Imran 3:85]
If that is the case, is it possible to bring close the truth and that which has been abrogated? It is not possible. And that is nothing but compromising, as He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]. ودّوا لو تدهن فيدهنون
[Al-Qalam 68:9]
Yes, if there is a specific, limited rapprochement between one person and another in order to call him to the religion of Islam, that is another matter. But to compromise and say, "You, O Jews, are upon a religion, and you, O Christians, are upon a religion, and we are upon a religion, and all religions are divine," this is not permissible. First, the Torah in the hands of the Jews, and the Gospel in the hands of the Christians.
