Is it permissible to have intercourse more than once without performing ghusl in between?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for a man to have intercourse with his wife twice without performing ghusl between the first and the second, or the third, for example?

A: It is permissible for him to do so, and performing ghusl is better. There is a report from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating that he did it and left it. The compilers of the Sunan and Ahmad narrated from the hadith of Rafi' ibn Khadij that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went around his wives one night, performing ghusl for each of them. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, why do you not make it one ghusl?" He said:
This is purer and betterهذا أزكي وأطيب
.
It is established in the two Sahihs, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go around his wives with one ghusl.
The Sunnah is that if he intends to resume intercourse without having taken a full ritual bath, he should perform the ablution for prayer. There is also evidence indicating that it is permissible to omit the ablution. As for what indicates that it is a recommended practice: what Muslim and others narrated from Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
If anyone of you has intercourse with his wife, then he wants to do it again, let him perform ablution.إذا أتى أحدكم أهله ثم أراد أن يعود فليتوضأ
Sunan Ibn Majah 587Sahih (Darussalam)
And in a narration by Ibn Khuzaymah:
Let him perform wudu' as for his prayerفليتوضأ وضوءه للصلاة
As for what indicates the permissibility of omitting it: what al-Tahawi narrated from the hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have intercourse and then return without performing wudu'كان النبي ﷺ يجامع ثم يعود ولا يتوضأ

And Allah is the One who grants success.
