The Ruling on Performing Wudu' During Ghusl

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the city of al-'Ays in the outskirts of Yanbu, the listener: Mus'ad Marzuq al-Sanani sent a message containing several questions. In one of them, he says: A man performed the ghusl for Jumu'ah and prayed with the congregation, but he had not performed the wudu' for prayer. He did not realize this until he was in the middle of the prayer; he did not remember that he had not performed wudu' after the ghusl. So he prayed with them. Is his prayer valid? Or what is obligatory for him if his prayer is not valid after a long time has passed?

Answer:
He has to repeat the prayer as Zuhr; he prays Zuhr. This is because the ghusl does not suffice for the wudu'; the ghusl for Jumu'ah is not sufficient. Rather, the prescribed wudu' is necessary. However, if it were the ghusl for janabah and he intended both states of impurity, it would suffice. But as for the recommended ghusl, the ghusl for Jumu'ah, this is not sufficient. Rather, he has to repeat the prayer as Zuhr, because Jumu'ah is not made up except as Zuhr. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. So, the recommended ghusl does not suffice for the wudu' unless one intends it?

The Shaykh : It does not suffice for the wudu', no, except if he arranged it.

The presenter : Except if he arranged it.

The Shaykh : He washed his face, then his hands, then wiped his head and ears, then washed his feet during the ghusl; there is no harm, it suffices.

The presenter : Meaning, it is as if he performed wudu'?

The Shaykh : Yes, he performed wudu' while he was performing ghusl; there is no contradiction.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : In the correct order, meaning with the intention, yes.

The presenter : Yes, yes. May Allah reward you with good.
