Ruling on praying in a garment decorated with images of animals
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Z. M. A. from Latakia in Syria says in his question: I ask you to inform me about the ruling on praying in a garment decorated with images of animals, and may Allah reward you with good.
A: It is not permissible to wear what contains an image of an animal; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the image-makers and informed that they will be punished on the Day of Resurrection ...Sunan an-Nasa'i 5362Sahih (Darussalam) and he ordered the defacing of images, and when he saw a curtain with an image on it at the home of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), he became angry and tore it. However, the prayer is valid; because the prohibition of wearing what has images is general and not specific to the state of prayer, so it is like stolen property and silk clothing for men, in which the prayer is valid according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. And upon the one who did that is repentance to Allah , and not returning to the like of it.
But if the image is on something that is trampled, such as a carpet or a pillow or the like of them, then there is no harm in that regarding the use of what has images; because it has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what indicates that. As for image-making, it is absolutely forbidden, whether in what is hung and respected or in what is trampled; due to the generality of the hadiths indicating the prohibition of image-making and the cursing of the image-makers.
And success is from Allah.

and it will be said to them: 'Bring to life that which you have created.'
