A: If a person prays while there is impurity on his body or his garment and he does not know about it until after the prayer, his prayer is valid according to the more correct of the two opinions of the scholars. This is also the case if he knew about it previously but forgot it during the prayer and did not remember it until after the prayer; his prayer is valid. This is based on the statement of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [al-Baqarah: 286].
