Meaning: (And grant the wrongdoers among us to the doers of good)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The sister who used the initials F. S. S. from Unaizah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia says in her question: What is the meaning of this supplication: (And grant the wrongdoers among us to the doers of good)?

A: Its meaning is asking Allah to forgive the wrongdoers among the Muslims by virtue of the doers of good among them, and there is no harm in that; because the company of the righteous and sitting with them is among the causes of forgiveness for the wrongdoer Muslim, for they are the people with whom one is not made wretched by their company, and it is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
The similitude of good company and that of bad company is that of the owner of musk and of the one (iron-smith) blowing bellows, and the owner of musk would either offer you free of charge or you would buy it from him or you would. smell its pleasant odour, and so far as one who blows the. bellows is concerned, he would either burn your clothes or you shall have to smell its repugnant smell.
Sahih Muslim 2628
.
However, it is not permissible for a Muslim to rely on such matters for the expiation of his sins; rather, it is obligatory for him to constantly adhere to repentance from all sins, and to account for himself and strive against his self for the sake of Allah, until he fulfills what Allah has made obligatory upon him and avoids what Allah has forbidden, and to hope for forgiveness and pardon from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in addition to that, and not to leave himself to his own self or his deeds. For this reason, it is authentic from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Proceed correctly and strive to be near, and be glad, and know that none of you will enter Paradise by his deed.سددوا وقاربوا وأبشروا واعلموا أنه لن يدخل الجنة أحد منكم بعمله
They said: And not you, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
Not even me. Unless Allah encompasses me with mercy and grace from Him.ولا أنا إلا أن يتغمدني الله برحمة منه وفضل
Sunan Ibn Majah 4201Sahih (Darussalam)
And success is from Allah.
