The ruling on the iqamah for prayer with the same number of phrases as the adhan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A. A. from Rawdat Sadr in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia says in his question: I traveled to some Islamic countries and entered one of the mosques to perform the prayer with the congregation. I found the mu'adhdhin performing the iqamah with the same number of phrases as the adhan. What is the Sunnah, O honorable Shaykh, in this matter? Is it permissible for the iqamah to be like the adhan? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good, and may Allah prolong your life in His obedience.

A: That is permissible; indeed, it is a type of the Sunnah in the adhan. This is because it is established in the authentic hadith of Abu Mazhura (may Allah be pleased with him) when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him the adhan and the iqamah in the Sacred Mosque at the time of the conquest.
It is permissible to omit the iqamah except for the words of the iqamah and the takbir, as Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) used to do in the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his presence and under his instruction, as reported in the two Sahihs from Anas who said:
Bilal used to make the adhan even in number and the iqamah odd in number in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)كان بلال يشفع الأذان ويوتر الإقامة بين يدي النبي ﷺ
.
By this, it is known that there is no harm in making the iqamah even or odd in number, provided that the phrase of the iqamah and the takbir are kept even, meaning the phrase: "The prayer has begun." The difference lies only in the two testimonies and the two calls to Allah, for in Abu Mazhura's adhan they are even, while in the hadith of Anas and others regarding the description of Bilal's adhan and iqamah, they are odd in the iqamah. All of this is Sunnah, and success is from Allah.
