The Ruling on Doubt After Prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: From Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz to the honorable brother, A. M. M. May Allah keep him safe. Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that:
I have reviewed your question, the text of which is: “We prayed the last night prayer (Isha), and after we prayed the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) and left the mosque, we stopped at the mosque door. Some of us began to doubt the completion of the prayer, thinking that we had only prayed three units. After this reminder, the doubt became present in everyone except a few of the congregation who had left before the witr prayer and before they were reminded. We, who gathered and this doubt arose in us, returned and prayed one unit behind the imam. We ask your eminence about the ruling on our prayer: Is it sufficient, or must we repeat the entire prayer? Because the interval was long, and we separated it with the rawatib and witr? And what is the ruling on the prayer of those who did not pray?”
A: As long as the doubt is after the prayer, there is no repetition required of you; because doubt after the completion of the act of worship does not affect it. And success is from Allah.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
