The Rawatib in Travel

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Does the prescription of the rawatib (the regular voluntary prayers) drop off during travel? What is the evidence for this? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.

A: It is prescribed to leave off the rawatib during travel, except for the witr and the sunnah of Fajr; because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar and others, that he used to leave off the rawatib during travel, except for the witr and the sunnah of Fajr.
As for the purely voluntary prayers, they are prescribed in travel and in residence, and so are those with specific causes: such as the sunnah of wudu', the sunnah of tawaf, the prayer of Dhuha, and the tahajjud in the night; due to hadiths that have come regarding this. And success is from Allah.
