Ruling on the greeting prayer of the mosque for one who enters after the 'Asr prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says—O Shaykh: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No one of you should sit until he prays two rak'ahsلا يجلس أحدكم حتى يصلي ركعتين
meaning: the greeting of the mosque. And in another hadith:
There is no prayer after the dawn prayer until the sun rises; and there is no prayer after the 'Asrلا صلاة بعد صلاة الصبح وصلاة العصر
Sunan Abi Dawud 1276Sahih (Al-Albani)
So, may I act upon these two hadiths every day, acting on one hadith on one day, praying on one day and not praying on another?

Answer:
The Sunnah is to pray; when one enters the mosque, he prays two rak'ahs. This is called one of the prayers with a cause. The prohibition against praying after the Fajr prayer means: a prayer without a cause. However, if it is with a cause, such as an eclipse—if the sun eclipses after 'Asr, they pray the eclipse prayer. And if one enters the mosque after 'Asr to sit in the mosque, or to attend a circle of knowledge, he prays two rak'ahs; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer.إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
And in the other wording:
let him perform two Rak'ah before sittingفليركع ركعتين قبل أن يجلس
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 316Sahih (Darussalam)
This is the Sunnah, even if the imam is delivering the sermon on Friday. If one enters the mosque, he prays two rak'ahs, and it is permissible if the imam is delivering the sermon. This is what is obligatory upon him, this is what is prescribed: he prays two rak'ahs, then sits. It is called: the greeting of the mosque. Even in the time of prohibition, and even during the imam's sermon on Friday. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
