The ruling on leading prayer with weak recitation and tajwid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I inform you that I am the imam of a mosque in one of the suburbs of Riyadh, and the problem is that I am weak in tajwid in my recitation and make many mistakes. I have memorized three parts of the Qur'an along with some verses in some surahs, and I am afraid for my religious commitment, so I ask you to inform me whether I should continue as imam or resign?

A: You must strive to memorize whatever of the Qur'an is easy for you and to recite it with proper recitation, and be glad of good and assistance from Allah. If your intention is sound and you exert your utmost effort in that; for Allah the Exalted said:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا
[Al-Talaq:4].
And the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
One who is proficient in the Qur'an is associated with the noble, upright, recording angels; and he who falters in it, and finds it difficult for him, will have two rewards.الماهر بالقرآن مع السفرة الكرام البررة والذي يقرأ القرآن ويتتعتع فيه وهو عليه شاق له أجران
Sahih Muslim 798a
We do not advise you to resign, but we advise you to persist in striving, patience, and perseverance until you succeed in perfecting the recitation of the Book of Allah and in memorizing all of it or what is easy for you of it. May Allah guide you and make your affairs easy.
