Is it permissible to send blessings upon anyone other than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to send blessings upon anyone other than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Answer:
There is nothing wrong with it. If one says, “O Allah, send blessings upon the family of so-and-so, O Allah, send blessings upon the family of Abu Bakr, upon the family of ‘Umar, upon the family of so-and-so,” there is nothing wrong with it. However, it is not adopted as a slogan by the scholars of knowledge, nor is it made a custom. It may occur occasionally, meaning: unlike with the prophets, for whom it is a prescribed matter, and especially with their seal, (peace and blessings be upon him); because the meaning of sending blessings is praise: “O Allah, send blessings upon him” means: praise him and mention him with good in the highest assembly. “Send blessings upon so-and-so” means: mention him with good and praise him.
